Design task:
Ensure appropriate temperature conditions throughout the year and, additionally for the winter period, meet the Investor’s requirements for the energy recovery from the technological process in the glazed Boiler and Flue Gas Cleaning Hall at the expanded Solid Municipal Waste Disposal Plant in Warsaw. Heat emission from technological equipment at 2.3MW, additional heat gains from the sun and building envelope at 380kW.
Project implementation:
Performing calculations and optimising the natural ventilation system using NV-CALC software, allowed us to design a system based on 34 Heatmover-S industrial vents and 90 air inlet louvres, controlled automatically. The calculations made for the winter period also took into account additional devices for mixing the air from under the hall roof with the outside air, which made it possible to meet the Investor’s requirements for energy efficiency and optimised the required power of the air heaters mounted on the air intakes as protection against freezing of the technology hall. The accuracy of the calculation results, showing, i.a. the distribution of temperature and pressure inside the hall, was also checked by CFD simulations.
